Dems-Double TSA “Grope and Feel” Fees to Pay for More Gov Inefficiencies

A little to the Left or Where is Your Spare Change?

To reward the TSA’s swollen ranks and bureaucracy, Senate Democrats are seeking to DOUBLE the Grope-a-Dope fees from $2.50 to $5.00 per one way pass through.  Their brilliant logic was framed perfectly by “What-Are-You-Doing-For-Me-Today” Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) when she stated that the $315 million in funding would otherwise come from taxpayers and argued it is better to stick it to passengers who rely on TSA with the bill.  One Mary, the vast majority of airline passengers are in fact, taxpayers.  Two, why don’t you see what fat you can cut out of the TSA budget!  Why is your first knee jerk reaction to raise taxes or fees?  Oh, I forgot, you are a Liberal Democrat.  When Kay Bailey Hutchinson (R-TX) tried to get an amendment in the bill to strip out the increase, but the committee turned down the amendment.  Even Tax and Spend Ben Nelson (D-Neb)  Voted with Kay to defeat the increase but to no avail.

Why can’t Congress start with the actually doing some hard work in looking into the TSA and all of the other agencies that continue to swell and take a cancerous bite our of this economy?  How about “stripping down” the TSA budget to zero and rebuilding the TSA from scratch using some common sense ideas, starting with privatizing this government behemoth.  There have been numerous studies on improvements and efficiencies that the TSA could adopt that would reduce the number of personnel needed at each terminal.  Better yet, privatize this again back to the airlines and the airports as they have a vested interested in not be blown up!  The answer to blown Federal budgets cannot continue to be to raise fees or taxes.

The golden goose has hemorrhoids now!
