As a follow-up to yesterday’s post, “Why “Compromise” Does Not Work with the Progressive Left“, (http://wp.me/pY51c-pt), Los Angeles Representative Maxine Waters, Democrat, added the perfect quote for the post and one that truly accents the polarized bias and sickness on the Left. Representative Waters said:
“This is a tough game. You can’t be intimidated. You can’t be frightened.
And as far as I’m concerned — the Tea Party can go straight to hell.”
As a Californian I am sorry that a person who spews such hateful, vile speech, in her official capacity, was elected anywhere in my state. As a member of the Christian Community, I take her comments not as being political, but as wishing biblical damnation of a whole group of caring, taxpaying US citizens, that she represents in her Federal capacity. As a member of several Tea Party organizations, along side of other Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, and American Indians of all faiths and political affiliations, I can only say that it is a sad day for this great nation when a member of the US Congress defames her fellow citizens and destroys whatever credibility she may have had left. She has also hurt the cause of the Black Community, many of which are God-fearing and law-abiding that support the same values and principles as the Tea Party.
Many in the Tea Party were supporters of the Civil Right’s movement of the 50’s and 60’s and help to pass the 1964 Civil Rights Act that could not have been passed in Congress without Republican Conservatives who voted in the majority for this historic act while their Democrats voted in the minority. Maxine, we do not want to continue the enslavement of any minority in this country and we only want to make sure all citizens have the opportunity to be the best they can be.
I ask everyone to say a prayer to themselves or in public that this type of rhetoric and hatred be purged from our political discourse and cease to degrade race relations in this country.
